Your Mind is a Liar
by Mark Hunter

Demons dancing in the shadow of the fire
unbalance your psyche from the center of its core
making you believe that your mind is a liar.

Distant singing distorts into a desolate choir
sounding like a violent far-away war
as demons sing in the shadows of the fire.

Clear heavenly piss drips like tears from a crier
and quickly evolves into a Niagara Falls pour
leaving you to believe that your mind is a liar.

The downfall soon stops and you begin to get drier
and as you warm up, your soul starts to soar
as demons keep cool in the shadows of the fire.

Your soul keeps climbing, going higher and higher
and halts at the entrance to heaven's white door
but you disbelieve and think that your mind is a liar.

As you're stuck in the doorway, the thoughts you acquire
turn away from the demons, the liar and more.
As the demons below fade into the fire
and you no longer think that your mind is a liar.

This is my attempt at writing an old English poetic form known as a Villanelle.  It contains 5 three-line stanzas
and a final four-line stanza with a rhyme scheme of "ABA ABA ABA ABA ABA ABAA".
